The network

A broker is only as good as the people they can put you in front of.

Surveyors, maritime lawyers, the harbourmaster at Benoa, conservation groups working the same waters. This is who sits behind the desk when a transaction needs more than a broker.

Benoa Marina, Bali

In short

The people we introduce are independent of us. A surveyor reports to you, a lawyer acts for you, and neither is paid by this desk — that separation is the whole value of the introduction.

  • Surveyors accredited by internationally recognised bodies such as RINA or IIMS.
  • A Jakarta maritime law firm covering Indonesian maritime law, PMA and vessel importation.
  • Day-to-day working relationships at Benoa Marina and with the harbourmaster (KSOP Benoa).

Technical & legal

Who you actually need on a transaction

These three carry most of the weight on any purchase that completes.

Independent surveyors

Accredited by bodies such as RINA or IIMS. You instruct them, they report to you, and we see the report at the same time you do. We will not be your surveyor, even when asked.

Maritime counsel

A Jakarta firm specialising in Indonesian maritime law, foreign investment (PMA) structures and vessel importation — the three places a cross-border purchase actually gets stuck.

Benoa Marina & KSOP

Our base is Benoa, so berthing, clearance and the administrative queue are handled by people the harbourmaster’s office already knows. This is the least glamorous entry here and the one that saves the most days.

Named relationships

Who we are affiliated with, and in what way

Funding, membership and dialogue are three different things. They are labelled separately here because conflating them would overstate all three.

Coral Triangle Center — funded

Sanur-based, working on marine protected area management and training for sustainable marine tourism. A direct recipient of our one-percent commission pledge.

The pledge

Komodo Survival Program — funded

Dedicated to the Komodo dragon and its habitat, in a park a large share of our clients will cruise. The second recipient of the pledge.

The pledge

WWF Indonesia — supported

We support their marine conservation programmes in the Coral Triangle. Support, not partnership: they do not endorse us or any vessel we list.

The Nature Conservancy Indonesia — supported

Marine biodiversity work in Raja Ampat and the Savu Sea, two of the cruising grounds our buyers ask about most.

KADIN — member

Membership of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, giving us networking and advocacy channels inside the Indonesian business community.

Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy — dialogue

An open line to Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif to stay current on regulation covering marine leisure. Dialogue only — not accreditation, and not endorsement.

How an introduction works

The rules we hold ourselves to when we put a client in front of someone.

No referral fee on advice

We take nothing from the surveyors or the lawyers. Paying a broker for the referral is exactly what makes an independent report stop being independent.

Disclosure first

Where any commercial relationship exists with a partner, you are told before the introduction, not asked to assume there is none.

Your own people are fine

Bring your own surveyor or counsel and we will work with them. The list exists for buyers arriving from outside Indonesia with no way to judge who is credible here.

Land-side coordination for owners — accommodation and transfers around a survey or handover — is arranged through the group on request.
